Child Development Council of NEPA Philosophy 

There are three key words that highlight the philosophy of Child Development Council of NEPA– parents, children and individuals.  

Child Development Council of NEPA believes that parents are the best-informed experts about their children and that help from the parents is essential to Child Development Council of NEPA staff. Parents help staff understand their children’s behavior, habits, and interests. Parents plan with staff and contribute to parties, field trips, and special events for the children. 

We believe that all children have the right to be involved in child care if their families need it or want it. All children regardless of race, color, religious creed, ability, ancestry, national origin- all are included in the programs operated by Child Development Council of NEPA. The Council does not focus narrowly on any aspect of development, but tries to provide a stimulating atmosphere that enhances the development of the “whole” child- physical, social and intellectual growth. 

Talking about the whole child leads to the last key word- individual. Each child is an individual at Child Development Council of NEPA, and it is the individual who is the focus of the program. It is the individual with whom the staff is concerned. The program helps the individual child to grow in independence, in the ability to give and receive affection, in the development of self-discipline and in loving and being open to learning.
