Assistance with Child Care Costs
At the Child Development Council of NEPA (CDC), we understand the challenges of affording quality child care. That’s why we offer multiple programs and resources to help families cover costs and ensure their children receive the care and education they deserve.
Programs and Financial Assistance
United Way Grant Assistance
CDC has been awarded a grant from the United Way of Wyoming Valley to assist parents with the cost of child care in the following situations:
- Parents who need child care while they seek employment
- Parents who are on a waitlist for the State child care subsidy
Please contact the CDC center of your choice for more information and an application.
Preschool Scholarships
Scholarship funds are often available for preschool-aged children. Applications open July 1. Contact your preferred CDC center to learn more.
Pre-K Counts Program
We offer 10 FREE Pre-K Counts classrooms operating from September to June.
- Eligibility: Children must be 3 years old by September 1.
- Locations: Available at all CDC centers.

Infant Toddler Contracted Slots (ITCS)
CDC is now a grantee in the Infant Toddler Contracted Slots (ITCS) program.
- Many slots in this program are completely FREE and currently available.

PARENTS!
- If you are on a wait list for state-subsidized assistance with child care costs, we can help with costs until you receive state subsidy. CALL (570)-829-2446.
- If you would like your child to participate in an early learning program but do not necessarily need child care, please contact our Centers and ask about our Early Learning Scholarships.

The Child Development Council of NEPA is a member agency of three local United Way organizations:
- Wyoming Valley
- Greater Hazleton
- Wyoming County
Grant and Funding Opportunities
The Child Development Council of NEPA applies for grants and other funding on a regular basis to assist families in need. The availability of this funding changes and will be discussed with you at your pre-placement interview.
